REQUEST FOR DONATIONS

November 2006

Many thanks for your support of our Search and Rescue Team which is certified by the national Mountain Rescue Association and operated under the authority of the Gunnison County Sheriff's Department.

Our Team of about 30 members continues its rigorous training schedule which enables us to effectively respond to Search and Rescue needs on a year-round basis.

Based in Crested Butte, our primary service area is the upper East River Valley, yet we are often called out to assist with problems throughout Gunnison County, and elsewhere in Colorado.

Our missions in the past several months have included:

- Bicycle, ATV, and off-road vehicle accidents on backcountry trails;

- Backcountry skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, and horseback riding accidents;

- Searches for overdue people, including a snowboarder.

With the help of many generous contributions during the past year, we were able to acquire: - Additional medical and rope rescue equipment;

- Wilderness emergency medical training for several Active Members;

- Team vehicle and snowmobile repairs.

We are the only emergency services agency in our area that does not receive regular funding from local or County taxes. We depend entirely on contributions, grants, and volunteer efforts to maintain our ability to respond to emergencies. Also, we do not charge for our services.

We have no paid staff. All training leaders, Teams Members, and Board Members serve without pay. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, and contributions may be deducted for income tax purposes.

We currently need financial contributions to help us with:

- Expenses of a 2007 move of our "Cache" building due to expansion of the bus maintenance facility;

- Costs related to our two-day November 2006 Mountain Rescue Association recertification examination;

- Unreimbursed Mission expenses.

"Friends of Paradise" who support the Crested Butte Community Foundation may indicate if they wish to have a portion of their contribution directed to Crested Butte Search and Rescue.

Matching funds are available to employees and retirees of many major corporations who contribute to non-profits. We shall be pleased to submit any required documentation.

We need your help, and look forward to receiving a contribution from you.

Our sincere thanks,

Nicholas J. Kempin, President

Charles G. Davis, Jr.
